Danielle & James // 30th March 2018
Our real life #GlamourBride features the gorgeous Danielle. What better way to brighten up this cold and dreary January day. Danielle has kindly agreed to tell us all about her wedding planning, why she chose her unique dress, stunning Lancashire wedding venue and top tips for other excited brides-to-be.
Q1. When was your big day and what is your husband’s name?
Danielle – Friday 30th March 2018 (Good Friday) and my husband is called James. We chose this date mostly due to my job (in a school) we wanted a Spring wedding (I don’t like the heat particularly) and we also wanted to have some time together with family after the wedding.
Q2. Which venue did you choose and why?
Danielle – We chose Charnock Farm wedding venue in Leyland, Lancashire. In my head, I wanted an outdoor rustic wedding in the middle of a field, but realistically this was not ideal for older/less able family members.
Q3 – How long had you been planning your wedding?
Danielle – We got engaged on 16th June 2016 and got married in March 2018. Realistically, I was actually only planning from summer 2017 though!
The proposal was lovely and romantic – we were out with family for my birthday (as we do every year) parents, sister, grandma all there. We ate and drank as usual then ordered dessert, I don’t really do cake and will often order a cheseboard. We decided to share some cheese, only this one came with a difference – a lovely box on it and cheese cut into heart shapes etc! He got down on one knee and I cried a lot (then ran around the restaurant showing everyone the sparkly diamonds!!)
Danielle – Our dog Jeff is part of the family, so we couldn’t not have him there. My friend who was looking after him for the weekend put a little dickie bow on him and brought him to see us once we’d said our vows! She then had to take him home and come back for the evening do because he was barking his head off, he didn’t like that he wasn’t allowed to get too close to me (couldn’t have him getting my dress dirty!!) He had a great afternoon being fussed by all the guests and I loved having him there ❤️
Q4 – You chose Glamour Bridal to supply your wedding gown. Would you recommend us to other brides and why?
Danielle – Absolutely!! I went into Glamour to just have a look with my mum. I was made to feel so welcome and comfortable, once i’d explained my vision the ladies went straight to my perfect dress! The first dress I tried on was ‘The One’ I knew it and my mum knew it, but the ladies were sure to make sure I tried lots more on, just to be sure.
Q5 – You wore the ‘Rose’ wedding dress from English Rose on your big day. What made it ‘The One’ and was it the style of dress you thought you would choose, or was it totally different?
Danielle – I always knew I wanted something less ‘traditional’ and I love flowers and floral patterns. I never thought I would go for a strapless dress (hence the addition of the material over the shoulder)
Q6 – What was your colour scheme?
Danielle – My bridesmaids dresses were green (to match the green in the flowers on my dress) and the men wore tweed style suits, James with a pink tie and the others with a green tie. The flowers were simple colours whites and greens – I wanted a rustic theme.
Q7 – How many bridesmaids did you have?
Danielle – I had 6 bridesmaids and then my step daughter. 6 ladies who all have a special place in my life for different reasons – when I chose them we weren’t sure if we’d have a big or a small wedding so I figured as long as those 6 were there then I’d have the most important people there. In the end we were able to invite lots of other friends and family!
Q8 – What is your favourite image from the day and why?
Danielle – I have so many!! But my ultimate favourite image is the one where I am kissing Bella when we had finished getting ready and both our dresses look amazing!
Q9 – If you could have your day all over again, would you do anything differently?
Danielle – Absolutely not. It was perfect.
Q10 – Your No 1 top tip for other brides to be?
Danielle – Try not to get too stressed – a bit of stress helps you to get things done, but try to enjoy the time too, it will only happen once. I found that I seemed to not really do much until a couple of months before then everything just fell into place. And remember – you and your husband are the most important people on the day, if something goes wrong people will do their best to hide it from you anyway!! Enjoy it!
